Bending Insensitive Polarization-Maintaining Fiber (BI-PMF) for optical components is a specialty optical fiber engineered to maintain both a strict linear polarization state and ultra-low signal attenuation when tightly coiled inside miniaturized optical components. As optical modules like transponders, modulators, splitters, and fiber optic gyroscopes (FOG) shrink in size, standard PM fibers suffer from massive macrobending losses and polarization cross-talk when forced into tight layouts. BI-PMF solves this footprint issue.
